Hi everyone! Welcome back to Dorms and Décor! In a previous blog post we discussed tips for under the bed storage. In this post, some of the same items will pop up since we will be talking about the top dorm room essentials that you will need for storage and organization.
NUMBER 1 – Storage Drawers
As you already know, there is not much space and storage in your new dorm room. Therefore, we need to do everything we can to get some extra space. These draws are the best! They are inexpensive and fit under your bed!
NUMBER 2 – Laundry Basket
This may seem like a no brainer but it is essential. This is another item you can stick right under your bed so no one can see it, just be careful how tall it is. I recommend getting a laundry basket that already comes with a removable bag that way it is easier to just grab the bag that is already full and just bring it down to the laundry room.
NUMBER 3 – HANGERS
Another essential that you’re probably looking at like – “uh, duh!” But I wanted to make another recommendation. Instead of getting those chunky plastic or wooden hangers, get velvet hangers! Your clothes don’t slip off of them and the create more space since they are not so big!
NUMBER 4 – SHOE RACK OR BAG
As we keep discussing, there is limited space in your dorm room. We have a lot of shoes, especially us girls, so we need a place to keep them. Get yourself some sort of small shoe rack or a shoe bag that you can slide right under your bed!
NUMBER 5 – POWER STRIP
Even at home we never have enough outlets for all of our chargers and plugs. Invest in a power strip and put it in a good location whether that is by your bed, your desk, wherever you choose. You’ll need plenty of outlets for your chargers, lamps, T.V., etc.
NUMBER 6 – SHOWER CADDY
Most dorm rooms have a shared bathroom for the entire floor. You will NEED a shower caddy to bring your shampoo, soap, etc. back and forth from your room and the bathroom. They have lots of different colors and designs for your shower caddy so pick a cute one!
